1. Political science is a branch of social science that is concerned with theory, description, analysis and prediction of political behavior, political systems and politics.The antecedents of politics can be traced back to the Socratic political philosophers, Plato and Aristotle ("The Father of Political Science") (384–322 BC). These authors analyzed political systems philosophically, going beyond earlier Greek poetic and historical reflections which can be found in the works of epic poets like Homer and Hesiod, historians like Herodotus and Thucydides. 2. Politics: a) conflict resolution (struggle over limited resources, human greed) b) enhancement of cooperation (process between actors or subjects of politics for sustainable development in order to achieve common goals) c) government (body of people that sets laws and policy): formal politics (law) and informal (other forms of communication) 3.
