Scientific mg - the use of scientific method to define the best way for a job to be done. Taylor ‘s (father of mg) principles: 1. Develop science for each element of an individual’s work, which replaces the old rule of thumb method; 2. Scientifically select and then train, teach, & develop the worker; 3. Heartily cooperate with the workers so as to ensure that work is done in accordance with principles of the science that has been developed. 4. Divide work and responsibility almost equally between mg and workers. Frank and Lillian Gilbreth- were inspired by Taylor’s ideas. They experimented in the design and use of the proper tools and equipment for optimizing work performance ( reduce wasteful hand and body motions in jobs). Henry Gantt – most noted for creating a graphic bar chart that could be used by mgs as a scheduling device for planning and controlling work.
